Define: Plan
This section is the first step in setting up a plan. It includes creating the plan name, effective dates, and adding which rep(s) to the plan. To get to the Define Plan section, you will go into Express:
- Plans > Edit Plan
- Select the plan
- Click on "1. Define Plan"
A plan can be created by Cloning a Plan(s) or by creating a New Plan.
A: Plan Name:
Customize the plan name to be displayed on reporting, rep Dashboard, and the Commission Statement.
- View Options: Admins can enter in a description of the plan
- Terms and Conditions: Assign Terms & Conditions to the plan. This will be available on the Rep's Dashboard under the Review Plan section. This is optional.
- Opportunity Estimator: A plan can also be excluded from the Opportunity Estimator and not used in calculating an estimate. To exclude a plan click "Exclude this plan from the Opportunity Estimator".
B: Plan Effective Dates:
This is the date range in which the plan will be active.
NOTE: Closed Periods will not be available for selection in the Effective Dates drop-down list.
The Effective Date can only be within a single fiscal year. The periods cannot span multiple fiscal years.
C: People Assignment:
Assigning payees and entering their target variable compensation. Reps can be added and calculated on multiple plans in the same fiscal year and same period.
- Checkbox: Check the box next to the user name to add the user to the plan.
-
Comment Bubble: Admins can add a comment for the user by clicking the grey talk bubble. Once a comment has been made the bubble will turn orange. Comments added here are only seen by Sales Admins on the Define Plan section. There is a 10,000 character limit to the comment section.
- Role: This is auto-populated based on Role Hierarchy in Salesforce. This can be found in Salesforce > Setup > Manage Users > Roles.
- Total Expressive Compensation (TIC) Value: Admins can enter a value in the TIC column to the right of the chart. This value represents the total value the person will receive on the plan if they hit 100% of their plan objectives. This value may be referenced in reporting or in Define Payments when creating a formula.
- Currency: This is auto-populated based on a user's locale setup in Salesforce. This will only appear if Multi-Currency is turned on.
- OTE: Stands for "On Target Earnings" and is a combination of TIC, or total incentive compensation, and salary. This represents what the sales rep will make if he/she hits 100% of their quota or are "on target". This is automatically updated when Salary and TIC are entered in.
- Attribute: Admins can use pre-determined fields in formulas. These are defined by the rep and can only be adjusted on the Define Plan section. To rename the Attribute field see Payment Categories
