How to Purge Past Data Without Reopening Periods
To Purge Data from Express:
- Go to Salesforce > "+" > Admin Tool
- Under the line item "Purge all deals and calculated results up to the selected period" > click "Purge"
If you do not have "Admin Tool" under the "+", it is set to "Tab Hidden" on your SFDC profile. You will need to have your SFDC Admin add it to your profile. To add it to your profile:
- Go to the user's profile > click "Edit"
- Search for "Admin Tool" > Change from "Tab Hidden" to "Default On".
Please be aware that:
- You will need to purge by a period in the previous fiscal year
- This will remove all data including payout information and historical information in the periods purged.
- Purging will delete all past Commission Statements
- Purging is meant to remove all data from a specific period from Salesforce. This should be considered a permanent deletion and the data cannot be recovered fully.
- Purging should be used when past, historical data is no longer needed. Before purging, it is recommended to export all data from Salesforce Report and/or download all Commission Statements for each rep in the periods being purged. This data cannot be recovered.
Overall, purging is a soft delete in Salesforce. To complete a hard delete you will need to empty the Salesforce Recycle Bin. Once the Salesforce Recycle Bin is emptied it cannot be recovered.
