Exchange Rates from Foreign Currency to Foreign Currency
It is common to have one payee get credit on another payee (seeAdding Split Percentage to Credit Rule and Define: Credits for more details).
When it comes to having a payee in one foreign currency get credit on a deal sold by another employee in a different foreign currency, Express will take the original foreign currency convert it to the company currency, and then from there convert it to the different foreign currency.
The idea is that Express has to get back to the company currency or "ground zero". The company currency is determined in Salesforce.
NOTE: If the company has a Dated Exchange Rate (see Turning on Multi-Currency in Express) turned on in Express, the exchange rates used are based on the Deal Date.
For example:
Rep A local currency: GPB
Rep B local currency: EUR
Company Currency: USD
If Rep B gets credit on Rep A's deal, the credit amount using exchange rates will take is
GPB > USD > EUR
The math would be:
Amount Field on Deal based on Rep A's locale = GPB Amount
(GPB Amount / GPB Exchange Rate) = USD Amount
(USD Amount * EUR Exchange Rate) = EUR Amount
Rep B's credit amount would be the EUR Amount. Rep A's credit amount would be the GPB Amount. If there is a Rep C who's local currency is USD, their credit amount would just be GPB > USD or the USD Amount.
Think of it this way:
| Deal Id | Salesperson on Deal | Locale | Amount on Deal based on Salesperson's locale | Local Exchange Rate | Converted to GBP | Math from Local Currency > GBP | Converted to EUR | Math from Local Currency > EUR | Converted to USD | Math from Local Currency > USD |
| Deal1 | Rep A | GPB | 150,000.00 | 1.5 | 150,000.00 | Already in GPB, no change to amount | 130,000.00 | GPB > USD > EUR ((150,000 / 1.5) * 1.3) |
100,000.00 | GPB > USD (150,000 / 1.5) |
| Deal2 | Rep B | EUR | 130,000.00 | 1.3 | 150000 | EUR > USD > GPB ((130,000 / 1.3) * 1.5) |
130,000.00 | Already in EUR, no change to amount | 100,000.00 | EUR > USD (130,000 / 1.3) |
| Deal3 | Rep C | USD | 100,000.00 | 1.0 | 150000 | USD > GPB (100,000 * 1.5) |
130,000.00 | USD > EUR (100,000 * 1.3) |
100,000.00 | Already in USD, no change to amount |
