Calculations are Running Slow
There are a few things that can affect calculations to run slower than expected:
The number of batches running in Salesforce:
calculations are processed on the Salesforce (SFDC) platform. SFDC has a limitation that only allows 5 jobs to be running at once. If 5 jobs are already running, the Express job will be queued up and be on hold until a space opens up.
NOTE: To review the jobs currently running in SFDC > Monitor > Jobs > Apex Jobs. Refresh the page to see the latest job processing. Only those with permissions can see this option.
The number of credits, payments, and deals in Express:
if a large number of credits, payments, and deals are being processed calculations will take longer. Typically, a company that has several thousand deals processing in one period will have slower calculations. You speed up or slow down calculations within Express. See Adjusting Speed of Calculations for additional steps.
NOTE: If processing over 50,000 deals or transactions per period, please reach out to your Customer Success Representative for further discussion.
Overall, think of Salesforce as your smartphone and Express as an app on that smartphone. When something needs to be updated on the smartphone - in our case when calculations need to run - you have to use WiFi or your cellular data to process the update. The cellular data and/or WiFi are Salesforce's servers.
Express cannot update their app (run calculations) without using the cellular data (Salesforce server) on their smartphone (Salesforce platform). So if your app on your smartphone is taking a long time to complete the update it is not necessarily because the app is slow, but because the WiFi or cellular data is having an issue.
